“Sustainability is at the core of what The Beeswax Wraps Co. does, so this partnership with Planet Mark is a natural fit. We need more sustainable pioneers like The Beeswax Wraps Co., who are putting environmentally friendly principles at the forefront of everything they do. I’m delighted that the company is now taking the step to robustly measure and reduce its carbon footprint, it is a fitting progression for a progressive company.”
“From the outset we have wanted to build a company that not only treats everyone they come into contact with well but also to ensure that we treat our planet kindly. We make beeswax and vegan wax wraps, a plastic-free alternative to clingfilm. Our view is that we cannot be a company that makes sustainable products if we are not making them in a sustainable way. Measuring our carbon footprint and reducing our carbon emissions is a key, company-wide goal. Working with Planet Mark has been invaluable in helping us understand where we are and where we need to get to.”
The Beeswax Wraps Co. has put sustainability at the centre of all of its operations. The wraps themselves are made from 100% natural ingredients and organic fabrics, and vegan wraps are also available for purchase. Electricity purchased at the company’s Nailsworth Mills site is 100% sourced from renewable energy. It also hosts a number of plastic-free and low-impact driven video tutorials on its website to encourage its customers to live a sustainable, packaging free life beyond its own products. The Beeswax Wraps Co. is also a certified B Corp, taking steps to measure its positive impacts on society and its stakeholders.
Manufacturers of products have a responsibility to examine the environmental impacts of the way they do business. Supply chains can be long and complex, with many diverse ways in which they impact the environment, but an honest and rigorous examination of the way products are made can uncover many opportunities. As well as a clearer perspective on a manufacturer’s carbon emissions, a drive towards sustainable products can help produce efficiencies in the supply chain, and when these stories are told, create a greater bond between the manufacturer and its customers.
As part of the Planet Mark certification, The Beeswax Wrap Co. has committed to making a year-on-year reduction.
