Karfu helps businesses measure the environmental impact of their vehicles and show how to access and enjoy the benefits of alternative mobility options.
Achieving the Planet Mark is based on the commitment to continuous improvement in sustainability in its business operations by measuring and reducing its carbon footprint and engaging its stakeholders.
This is Karfu’s second year of carbon reporting with Planet Mark. Its total carbon footprint in the year ending March 2022 was 3.6 tCO2e. Karfu’s total carbon per employee in the year prior to March 2022 was 0.8 tCO2e.
Over the next year, the company will be working towards reducing its carbon emissions and sharing its journey with its community to inspire others. By being more strategic about its environmental responsibility, Karfu will be able to significantly increase its positive impact and hope to encourage continual improvements within its community.

Karfu’s mission is to help everybody compare ‘ownership’ with ‘usership’, to help find the right options for people’s transport. Karfu helps to save money, measure the environmental impact of vehicles and shows how to access and enjoy the benefits of alternative mobility options. The company is a certified B Corp, showing Karfu’s balance between purpose and profit. This makes the company legally required to consider the impact of its decisions on workers, customers, suppliers, the community and the environment. Karfu is also part of the Heart of the City programme in London, an initiative that believes every business can be a force for good.
Through Planet Mark, the company has protected an area of endangered rainforest thanks to Cool Earth; a charity working alongside rainforest communities to halt deforestation. Its pledge through Cool Earth goes directly towards supporting the Asháninka community in Central Peru.
It is also helping the Eden Project – an educational charity building connections with each other and the living world, exploring how we can work together towards a better future.
To recertify next year Karfu must reduce emissions by 2.5%.
A 5% year-on-year reduction is the target reduction recommended by Planet Mark.
