This is The Gardens Group’s second year of business carbon footprint reporting and Planet Mark certification. Since certifying to Planet Mark, the company has set a target to reduce emissions by 5% annually.
Achieving the Planet Mark is based on the commitment to continuous improvement in sustainability in its business operations by measuring and reducing its carbon footprint and engaging its stakeholders.
Over the next year, The Gardens Group will be working towards reducing its carbon emissions and sharing its journey with its community to inspire others. By being more strategic about its environmental responsibility, the company will be able to significantly increase its positive impact and hope to encourage continual improvements within its community.
“I am really pleased to see The Gardens Group’s new focus on sustainability. Actions speak louder the words, and The Gardens Group is walking the walk on sustainability. It takes a whole team to come together to build a robust environmental strategy, and I applaud everyone involved in making this a reality. It is a pleasure to work with such a positive and dynamic team that is dedicated to positive business.”
The Gardens Group is keen to demonstrate the role that its industry can play in protecting wildlife and the environment, as well as bringing people together through gardening to promote better health and wellbeing. As well as the commitment to cut carbon emissions year-on-year, The Gardens Group has a peat-free policy that has seen tremendous progress over recent years. The company has also pledged to conserve an acre of endangered rainforest with the conservation charity Cool Earth.
Businesses must act urgently if we are to reach our collective climate goals. The business community is a major cause of global emissions, but honest, transparent and ambitious sustainability strategies can help both reduce emissions, and promote the business. As well as helping create efficiencies within the business, sustainability can help engage consumers in your business’s brand, and build deeper, more impactful relationships. A robust sustainability strategy can then help both the planet and profitability.
As part of the Planet Mark certification, The Gardens Group has committed to making a year-on-year reduction.
