Certification story

Quiet storm, a purpose-led, employee-owned, creative agency and production company that looks to transform businesses, lives and society through creativity, has achieved Planet Mark certification.

Achieving Planet Mark is based on the commitment to continuous improvement in sustainability in its business operations by measuring and reducing its carbon footprint and engaging its stakeholders.

Understanding and measuring its carbon footprint is the first step in identifying ways to minimise its impact on the planet. This is Quiet Storm’s second year of business carbon footprint reporting and Planet Mark certification.

Over the next year, the company will be working to reduce its carbon emissions and sharing its journey with its community to inspire others. By being more strategic about its environmental responsibility, it will be able to significantly increase its positive impact and hope to encourage continual improvements within its community.

Planet Mark
“Congratulations to Quiet Storm on achieving Planet Mark certification. The agency is already working on sustainable issues, helping clients create positive change through impactful communications. Now, that work is combined with a dedication to sustainable change within the organisation. Spreading climate action throughout an entire organisation is a big commitment, but one that will reap incredible rewards. Well done to all involved.”

Quiet Storm has made sustainable change beyond its commitment to cut carbon emissions. Quiet Storm has worked with sustainability charity Global Action Plan to empower young people to challenge consumerism through the ‘Get Real’ campaign that will call out the forces that drive hyper-consumerism and expose the marketing techniques used to make young people believe they will be happier by focusing on looks, likes and buying more stuff. The agency also protects endangered rainforest with conservation charity Cool Earth.

There is a great opportunity for advertisers to lead the charge on sustainable change. All brands are working to promote sustainability in their business, but many find it difficult to present that progress in a compelling way. Creatives in the advertising industry can bring sustainability strategies to life. However, achieving this requires the internal expertise to understand the core issues around climate change. The most comprehensive way to demonstrate this expertise is to implement robust sustainability policies within the agency that align with your client’s goals and ambitions.

Future targets

Reduce carbon emissions by at least 2.5% each year

To recertify next year Quiet Storm must reduce emissions by 2.5%.

Aim to reduce carbon emissions by 5% each year

A 5% year-on-year reduction is the target reduction recommended by Planet Mark.
