We engage our employees and wider stakeholders to unlock their talent and knowledge to drive year on year progress in sustainability.
We recognise that transparent communication is essential for transformational change and we quantifiably contribute to 5 SDG’s.
Purgo Supply Services, a commercial cleaning company operating from their main location in London, has achieved Planet Mark certification.
This is Purgo’s first year of business carbon footprint reporting and certification to Planet Mark. It has calculated the carbon footprint of its London office operations for the year ending September 2020 and set a target to reduce emissions by 5% annually.
Purgo’s total carbon footprint for the year ending September 2020 was 43.6 tCO2e and the relative carbon footprint was 3.9 tCO2e per employee.
If Purgo hits its carbon target, it will save carbon the same as burning 1000kg of coal.
“Purgo has the mentality and drive to take its sustainability efforts to the next level. With the right practices, and more importantly, the right mindset, already in place, I hope we can work together to create long term impact at the company. The road ahead is long but I’m confident of the team’s ability to change for the better. I look forward to working with Purgo further in the future.”
Purgo Supply Services cares deeply about the environment. The company takes its responsibilities towards being sustainable very seriously, appreciating that we are only custodians for future generations and that our actions today may have a detrimental effect in the future. Therefore, Purgo has made a commitment to continual improvement in its environmental performance and the company monitors fuel usage and landfill waste closely. In addition to this, the team scrutinises all of its subcontractors to ensure their policies meet their expectations.
Cleaning companies must be primed for rapid sustainable change. Be it through knowledgeable, ethical choices of products or through sensible management of a supply chain, cleaning companies can embrace eco-friendly practices for both the good of the planet, and as a tool for seeking new business.
As part of the Planet Mark certification, Purgo has committed to make a year-on-year reduction.
