PT Sasa Inti, a trusted Food and Seasoning FMCG company in Indonesia, founded by Rodamas in 1968, has achieved Planet Mark certification.
This is P.T. Sasa Inti’s second year of business carbon footprint reporting and Planet Mark certification. Since certifying to Planet Mark, the company has set a target to reduce emissions by 5% annually.
P.T. Sasa Inti’s total carbon footprint in the year ending December 2020 was 128,059.4 tCO2e, a reduction of 14.8%. P.T. Sasa Inti’s total carbon per employee in the year ending 2020 was 113.0 tCO2e, a reduction of 14.8%.
The carbon saved by P.T. Sasa Inti this year is the equivalent of taking 4,800 vehicles off the road for one year.
“If we are to meet your climate goals, we must make dramatic change to our food system. P.T. Sasa Inti have made incredible steps forward in their operational carbon footprint this year. It is a pleasure to see a company lead by example and take control of their low carbon future. Congratulations to everyone involved in such a successful year.”
PT Sasa Inti has a number of Corporate Social Responsibility activities beyond its pledge to cut carbon emissions. These range from providing donations to local communities during the festivities such as the Idul Adha holiday, to helping to maintain agricultural infrastructures among its suppliers such as improving irrigation canals. Aid is distributed both directly through its CSR officers, and indirectly, where it works together with various NGOs, government agencies, and community groups. The company has also pledged to protect an acre of rainforest with conservation charity Cool Earth.
The world’s food systems are responsible for approximately 25% of the emissions responsible for climate change. To achieve the world’s climate targets, food manufacturers and suppliers must take the initiative to reduce carbon emissions throughout their supply chain. Change is coming, and those companies that are proactive in tackling their emissions will prove to be more resilient and prepared for the markets of the future.
As part of the Planet Mark certification, PT Sasa Inti has committed to making a year-on-year reduction.
