Certification story

Pear Tree Cleaning Services, a facilities service provider has achieved the Planet Mark certification. The company continue to make a tangible and demonstrable impact on ethical employment, sustainable procurement and corporate social responsibility through business operations.

In this crucial Decade of Action, the company want to ensure that they are a force for good: positively transforming society and the planet by measuring and reducing its own environmental impact.

This is Peartree Cleaning Services’ first year of business carbon footprint reporting and Planet Mark certification. Peartree Cleaning Services’ total carbon footprint in the year ending August 2021 was 49.6 tCO2e. Peartree Cleaning Services’ total carbon per employee in the year prior to August 2021 was 0.07 tCO2e.


Since certifying, the company has set a target to reduce emissions by 5% annually. Over the next year, the company will be working towards reducing its carbon emissions and sharing its journey with its community to inspire others.

By being more strategic about its environmental responsibility, the firm will be able to significantly increase its positive impact and hope to encourage continual improvements within its community.

Peartree Cleaning Services has also measured its social value contributions. This refers to the net social and environmental benefits generated by their team. Measuring social value gives a holistic insight into its positive contributions to the environment and society, demonstrating its commitment to contributing to a better planet for all meaningfully.

Certification story

Through Planet Mark, the company has protected an area of endangered rainforest thanks to Cool Earth; a charity working alongside rainforest communities to halt deforestation. Its pledge through Cool Earth goes directly towards supporting the Asháninka community in Central Peru.

It is also helping the Eden Project – an educational charity building connections with each other and the living world, exploring how we can work together towards a better future.

Peartree Cleaning Services knows that actions today will change tomorrow’s world, and the company believes that every employee, supply partner, and client can make a difference on its sustainable journey. Peartree has set out a roadmap for an ambitious and sustainable future, and are making a positive impact in sustainable procurement, employment, and governance. As well as committing to carbon reduction, Peartree is a corporate sponsor of the Woodland Trust project and supports HRH The Prince of Wales’ Terra Carta initiative to give businesses a clear path through to 2030 to help move towards an ambitious and sustainable future using nature around us and the innovation of the private sector.

The company has switched its plastic bottle usage to reduce plastic use by 88%, and remove single use plastics from their supply chain as much as possible. Peartree also provides washroom consumables from sustainable forestry sources, and actively supports tree planting initiatives.
