Certification story

Morrow + Lorraine, a London-based architectural practise creating enduring, thoughtful buildings underpinned by sustainable design has achieved the Planet Mark certification. At Morrow + Lorraine, sustainability is essential to its practice, projects, ethics and ethos.

Sustainable outcomes in the construction and operation of buildings govern their decision making. Ultimately, the team seek to leave a legacy of regenerative buildings that not only tread lightly on the environment but work harmoniously with nature. With both WELL and Passivhaus certified architects on their sustainability team and established knowledge of retrofit and refurbishment, the architectural and planning firm is advocating for a future that prioritises people, places and the planet.

They have identified a number of guiding principles that are helping the firm put sustainable goals into practice; whole-life carbon, circularity, biodiversity, wellbeing, social value and longevity.

In this crucial Decade of Action, Morrow and Lorraine want to ensure that it is a force for good: positively transforming society and the planet by measuring its own impact on the environment and sharing its journey with its community to inspire others. By being more strategic about its environmental responsibility, the company will be able to significantly increase its positive impact and hope to encourage continual improvements within its community.

Through Planet Mark, Morrow and Lorraine will be protecting an area of endangered rainforest thanks to Cool Earth; a charity working alongside rainforest communities to halt deforestation. Its pledge through Cool Earth goes directly towards supporting the Asháninka community in Central Peru.

It will also be helping the Eden Project – an educational charity building connections with each other and the living world, exploring how we can work together towards a better future.
