Las Bodegas, the creators of the new sustainable wine range, Green Roots Wine, has achieved Planet Mark certification.
This is Las Bodegas’ first year of business carbon footprint reporting and Planet Mark certification. Las Bodegas’ total carbon footprint in the year ending April 2021 was 39.8 tCO2e. Las Bodegas’ total carbon per employee in the year prior to April 2021 was 13.3 tCO2e.

“Congratulations to Las Bodegas on Planet Mark certification. Las Bodegas is an ambitious company with the right mindset for a sustainable transition, and I’m delighted that Planet Mark can assist in forging their low-carbon future. The team is dedicated to real change, and I’m inspired by their passion for the planet. I look forward to working more with the team and seeing the results of their work.”
“Las Bodegas is committed to doing everything we can to reduce our emissions in every step of our business and supply chain. The climate crisis is real and we have to do our bit to look after our planet. As a small business, we are all passionate about the environment and climate change and we need assistance to realise our goal of net zero by 2030. This is where Planet Mark have been invaluable; they have lent us their expertise to make sure we are asking the right questions of our suppliers and challenging us to improve continuously. We are at the beginning of our sustainability journey and at the heart of this is our new, sustainable wine project, Green Roots Wine, launching in February 2022.”
Achieving Planet Mark is based on the commitment to continuous improvement in sustainability in its business operations by measuring and reducing its carbon footprint and engaging its stakeholders.
Since certifying to Planet Mark, Las Bodegas has set a target to reduce emissions by 5% annually. Over the next year, it will be working towards reducing its carbon emissions and sharing its journey with its community to inspire others. By being more strategic about its environmental responsibility, the company will be able to significantly increase its positive impact and hope to encourage continual improvements within its community.
Las Bodegas has made a number of commitments to sustainability beyond the pledge to reduce its emissions by 5% year-on-year. The company has a goal of reaching net zero by 2030. Las Bodegas has also pledged to conserve an acre of endangered rainforest through a collaboration with Cool Earth.
The food and drink industry has an important role to play in reaching global climate goals. Suppliers and traders in the industry must become conscious of their emissions, both in their own operations and in their supply chain. A sustainability strategy that provides measured and achievable targets can help turn sustainable ambition into reality.
As part of the Planet Mark certification, Las Bodegas has committed to making a year-on-year reduction.
