ISG, a global construction specialist delivering work in fit out, technology and construction, has achieved Planet Mark certification.
This is ISG’s second year of business carbon footprint reporting and Planet Mark certification. Since certifying to Planet Mark, the company has set a target to reduce emissions by 5% annually.
ISG’s total carbon footprint in the year ending December 2020 was 8,664.6 tCO2e, a reduction of 34%. ISG’s total carbon per employee in the year ending 2020 was 2.8 tCO2e, a reduction of 34%.
ISG’s carbon reduction this year is the same as preventing 10,000 barrels of oil from being burned.
“I am delighted by ISG’s second year Planet Mark certification! The company is committed to doing things right, from embracing the challenges of measuring a wide array of its business operations, to the excellent reduction in carbon footprint this year. Moreover, ISG realises it is part of a community – willing to share success and best practice to help us all reduce our impact. This is the hallmark of a truly sustainable company. All I can hope for is the success to continue. Well done all.”
ISG is committed to driving revolutionary change in the construction industry, promoting the sustainability agenda through its own business operations, and supporting its clients to achieve their sustainable business goals. As well as the commitment to measure and reduce its carbon footprint, ISG works with a number of organisations to help promote its sustainability, such as the Supply Chain Sustainability School, the Institute of Corporate Responsibility and Sustainability and is a member of the Considerate Constructors scheme.
Constructors have a huge opportunity to benefit from sustainable practice. In a decade of climate action, innovative companies will stand to gain the most as standards, and the demands of customers and building occupiers, continue to evolve. The industry has the ability to impact on at least one fifth of the UK’s emissions, and pioneering companies must think environmentally to meet modern demand. This includes working within their own organisations, with their stakeholders and in their supply chains to create whole-life sustainable construction projects.
As part of the Planet Mark certification, ISG has committed to making a year-on-year reduction.
ISG has committed to achieving net zero emissions by 2025.
