PT Inocycle Technology Group Tbk, an Indonesian clean technology company based on the management of recycling PET and other plastic waste, has achieved Planet Mark certification. 

To ensure and enhance the company’s sustainability, the company is committed to creating a balance between economic performance, development and fulfilment of people, whilst respecting its environmental and social commitment.

Over the next year, it will be working towards reducing its carbon emissions and sharing its journey with its community to inspire others. By being more strategic about its environmental responsibility, the company will be able to significantly increase its positive impact and hope to encourage continual improvements within its community.

PT Inocycle’s vision is to become the biggest sustainable eco-friendly recycled fibre company that produces world-class quality products. PT Inocycle turns more than 2 billion plastic bottles into resources every year for companies from over 10 countries in multiple industries including automotive, furnishing, fashion, agriculture and infrastructure. In 2019 PT Inocycle recycled over 38 million kilograms of PET plastic bottles into Recycled Polyester Staple Fibre (Re-PSF). PT Inocycle is the only company in Indonesia certified to the Global Recycled Standard (GRS) in recycled PET bottles.

Companies operating in the green economy face the added requirements to show their own environmental credentials. Creating products or services that help companies reduce their environmental impact is not enough, companies in this space must also show an ability to walk the walk in their own environmental processes. Demand for rigorous sustainability policies that extend throughout a business is ever-increasing, and companies operating in green industries need to stay ahead of the modern consumer to thrive. 


Going beyond

Through Planet Mark, PT Inocycle Technology Group has protected an area of endangered rainforest thanks to Cool Earth; a charity working alongside rainforest communities to halt deforestation. Its pledge through Cool Earth directly supports the Asháninka community in Central Peru.

It has also helped the Eden Project – an educational charity building connections with each other and the living world, exploring how we can work together towards a better future.

To recertify next year Inocycle must reduce emissions by 2.5%.

Aim to reduce carbon emissions by 5% each year

A 5% year-on-year reduction is the target reduction recommended by Planet Mark.
