Impress Print, an award-winning environmental print company established in 1889, has achieved Planet Mark certification.
This is Impress Print’s third year of certification to Planet Mark. It first calculated the carbon footprint of its UK operations for the year ending December 2017 and set a target to reduce emissions by 5% annually.
Impress Print’s total carbon footprint for the year ending February 2020 was 256.6 tCO2e, a decrease of 21.7% from the year ending 2019. The relative carbon footprint was 3.77 tCO2e per employee, a decrease of 2 1% compared to the year ending 2019.
Impress’ emissions reduction saved the same amount of carbon as preventing 30,000 litres of petrol being consumed.
“Impress Print embodies our values at Planet Mark. Constantly striving to find ways of doing business better, the ethos at the company is to embed sustainability right throughout the company. The results show how this philosophy can impact an organisation. Change is achievable – Impress has demonstrated that – and I’m so pleased to play a part in a business doing things the right way.”
Impress is the first UK printer to achieve certification to Planet Mark. Impress print has committed to protecting 44 acres of land through the World Land Trust which is valid until 30/09/2021. Its products are certified 100% free of raw materials that are of animal origin by the Vegetarian Society. Furthermore, Impress’ World Land Trust ‘carbon balanced printer’ certification recognises that the carbon impacts of the whole production of a printed item have been estimated and balanced or offset.
Businesses are quickly becoming more knowledgeable about their role in climate change, and as a result many are requiring strong sustainability standards throughout their supply chains. If you are a company servicing other businesses, demonstrating robust sustainability credentials is moving from a nice-to-have to a necessity for acquiring new business. Carbon reduction is no longer just for the planet, but for the survival of a modern business.
As part of the Planet Mark certification, Impress Print has committed to make a year-on-year reduction.
