Keen and Toms Holdings, a British family-run mattress and bed manufacturer with over 100 years of experience, has achieved Planet Mark certification.
This is Keen and Toms Holdings’ first year of business carbon footprint reporting and certification to The Planet Mark. They have calculated the carbon footprint of its Hypnos Ltd, Keen & Able Ltd and Hypnos Contract Beds Ltd businesses for the year ending June 2020 and set a target to reduce emissions by 5% annually.
Keen and Toms Holdings’ total location-based carbon footprint for the year ending June 2020 was 801.7 tCO2e and the relative carbon footprint was 1.9 tCO2e per employee.
If Keen and Toms Holdings manages to achieve their carbon reduction target, they will have saved the same amount of carbon as driving 100,000 miles in an average car.
“It is a great pleasure to welcome Keen and Toms Holdings to Planet Mark. From the work the company has already done over its first year with the scheme, it is clear that there is dedication to fighting climate change at the core of the business. Making real sustainable change is about integrating all parts of the business into the sustainability policy, and I’m confident Keen and Toms Holdings has adopted this mentality. The company’s commitment to continuous carbon reduction is a vital step toward a sustainable future.”
Keen and Toms Holdings is committed to reducing its carbon footprint and to using environmentally friendly materials of the highest quality. The company has made strides to put sustainability at the centre of everything it does. From the use of renewable natural resources and carbon offsetting programmes to supporting worthy charities, local schools and nurturing future talent, sustainability and corporate social responsibility are embedded into the business. Hypnos is also involved in a variety of certified climate projects including planting trees in both the UK and the Amazon plus providing clean water in Uganda.
The goods that we as consumers buy represent one of the main ways we can change our carbon footprint. The market for ethical and sustainable products is ever-growing, and as potential customers increasingly choose to use their wallets as a tool to fight climate change, makers of consumer goods must ensure that they are able to demonstrate their environmental credentials. This must be done in a robust fashion, acknowledging the need for a sustainable supply chain as well as sustainable business operations.
As part of the Planet Mark certification, Hypnos Beds has committed to making a year-on-year reduction.
