Certification story

Hypnos Beds, a British family-run mattress and bed manufacturer with over 100 years of experience, has achieved Planet Mark certification.

Hypnos Beds is committed to reducing its carbon footprint and to using environmentally friendly materials of the highest quality. The company has made strides to put sustainability at the centre of everything it does. From the use of renewable natural resources and carbon offsetting programmes to supporting worthy charities, local schools and nurturing future talent, sustainability and corporate social responsibility are embedded into the business. Hypnos is also involved in a variety of certified climate projects including planting trees in both the UK and the Amazon plus providing clean water in Uganda.

Steve Malkin
Founder and CEO
Planet Mark
“Congratulations to Hypnos Beds on a fantastic year of climate action. The company has exceeded its carbon reduction target for Planet Mark certification, and has taken an important step forward toward its climate ambitions. Hypnos Beds Holdings has a great understanding of the broad sense of sustainability, combining carbon reduction with sustainable processes in making its products, and enriching its employees and community. I am pleased to work with forward-thinking companies like Hypnos and look forward to seeing more successes.”

The goods that we as consumers buy represent one of the main ways we can change our carbon footprint. The market for ethical and sustainable products is ever-growing, and as potential customers increasingly choose to use their wallets as a tool to fight climate change, makers of consumer goods must ensure that they are able to demonstrate their environmental credentials. This must be done in a robust fashion, acknowledging the need for a sustainable supply chain as well as sustainable business operations.

Going beyond

Through Planet Mark, Hypnos Bed has protected an area of endangered rainforest thanks to Cool Earth; a charity working alongside rainforest communities to halt deforestation. Its pledge through Cool Earth directly supports the Asháninka community in Central Peru.

It has also helped the Eden Project – an educational charity building connections with each other and the living world, exploring how we can work together towards a better future.

Hypnos Beds has achieved Carbon Neutral status.

Future targets
