FORE Partnership, a purpose-driven real estate investment firm active in the UK and Western Europe, has achieved Planet Mark certification. This is FORE Partnership’s second year of business carbon footprint reporting and Planet Mark certification.
Achieving the Planet Mark is based on the commitment to continuous improvement in sustainability in its business operations by measuring and reducing its carbon footprint and engaging its stakeholders.
Over the next year, the company will be working towards reducing its carbon emissions and sharing its journey with its community to inspire others. By being more strategic about its environmental responsibility, it will be able to significantly increase its positive impact and hope to encourage continual improvements within its community.
Through Planet Mark, FORE Partnership has protected an area of endangered rainforest thanks to Cool Earth; a charity working alongside rainforest communities to halt deforestation. Its pledge through Cool Earth goes directly towards supporting the Asháninka community in Central Peru.
It is also helping the Eden Project – an educational charity building connections with each other and the living world, exploring how we can work together towards a better future. The company is looking forward to sharing its sustainability achievements with the wider community.
“FORE Partnership has sustainability embedded into its purpose, and delivers spaces that allow people and the planet to thrive. With Planet Mark certification, this purpose can expand right through its business operations. With this commitment, FORE Partnership has reached new levels of sustainable practice. Congratulations to all involved, I look forward to seeing signals of progress as the partnership develops.”
When FORE Partnership looks at a building, they see something no one else sees. The team carefully examined the links between sustainability, health and well-being, community, design and technology to generate consistently, enduring profitability. Through the Building FOREward strategy, FORE Partnership aims for all of its work to reduce the carbon footprint of operations, integrate health and well-being outcomes, consider long-term design solutions and address the social impact of real estate development.
The built environment is one of the world’s major polluters and is responsible for 20% of the UK’s carbon footprint. There are many benefits to the creation of sustainable spaces. As developers, creating future-fit spaces removes the need for retrofitting property to meet future standards. Sustainable places also have a number of health and well-being benefits for their occupiers, creating long term value for owners and occupiers. As awareness of the benefits of sustainable places grows, sustainable businesses in real estate are set to thrive.
To recertify next year FORE Partnership must reduce emissions by 2.5%.
A 5% year-on-year reduction is the target reduction recommended by Planet Mark.
