We recognise that transparent communication is essential for transformational change and we quantifiably contribute to 8 SDG.
Equip4work, an online and mail order B2B retailer of commercial products, has achieved Planet Mark certification. This is their seventh year of business carbon footprint reporting. In this Decade of Action, the group wants to ensure that they are a force for good: positively transforming society and the planet by measuring its own impact on the environment.
Achieving Planet Mark is based on the commitment to continuous improvement in sustainability in its business operations by measuring and reducing its carbon footprint and engaging its stakeholders.
Over the next year, Equip4work will continue to reduce its carbon emissions and share its journey with its community to inspire others. By being more strategic about its environmental responsibility, the company will be able to significantly increase its positive impact and hope to encourage continual improvements within its community.
“This has been an encouraging year of carbon footprint reporting for Equip4work. Cutting the carbon from their travel and paper procurement significantly shows how simple policies can have real impacts on emissions. Working with a range of businesses across the country, Equip4work are in a strong position to influence their network and spread their positive work widely. I look forward to them building on this year’s fantastic results.”
Equip4work is the UK’s leading online B2B retailer for workplace equipment. Based in Dumfries, it supplies a range of products for business from office furniture, warehouse and workshop products, to health and safety and cleaning equipment. Equip4work started trading in 2004 and has since built up a large and very loyal customer base all across the country.
The retail industry must be at the centre of a sustainable transition. They are in a strong position to make decisions that can have wide-reaching impacts and have the potential to create more sustainable options for society. Consumers are increasingly concerned about choosing an ethical supply chain, and retailers must be willing to react. Ensuring businesses are effectively supplied with their everyday needs in a sustainable manner represents an opportunity to both embed environmentally responsible practice and engage a community of committed stakeholders in better practice.
Through Planet Mark, the Equip4work has protected an area of endangered rainforest thanks to Cool Earth; a charity working alongside rainforest communities to halt deforestation. Its pledge through Cool Earth goes directly towards supporting the Asháninka community in Central Peru.
It is also helping the Eden Project – an educational charity building connections with each other and the living world, exploring how we can work together towards a better future.
To recertify next year Equip4Work must reduce emissions by 2.5%.
A 5% year-on-year reduction is the target reduction recommended by Planet Mark.
