Certification story

Enable Infrastructure, a leading UK Principal Contractor for infrastructure projects across the Rail, Highways and Utility sectors, has achieved Planet Mark certification.

This is Enable Infrastructure’s third year of business carbon footprint reporting and Planet Mark certification. Achieving the Planet Mark is based on the commitment to continuous improvement in sustainability in its business operations by measuring and reducing its carbon footprint and engaging its stakeholders.

Enable Infrastructure has also had its Social Value contribution measured by Planet Mark, which amounted to £145,257, and was derived from Community and volunteering, donations, procurement, and environmental impacts. Measuring its social value gives a holistic insight into its positive contributions to not only the environment but also to society, demonstrating its commitment to meaningfully contribute to a better planet for all.

Steve Malkin
Founder and CEO
Planet Mark
“I am thrilled to be celebrating Enable Infrastructure’s commitment to reduce its carbon footprint. The construction industry is ripe for change, not just as a big polluter, but as a space with tremendous innovation and sustainable solutions on offer. Construction companies looking to embrace sustainability have an opportunity to make enormous change and shape the way we live our lives in the future. Forward-thinking companies like BCM understand this, and I’m pleased with the team’s dedication to creating an environmentally friendly future.”

Environment & Sustainability Manager
BCM Construction Ltd
“Enable Infrastructure are thrilled to have achieved Planet Mark certification for a third consecutive year. The scheme not only provides our employees, shareholders, clients, local communities and supply chain with confidence in our assurance processes, but it demonstrates our commitment to reducing carbon and increasing social value”

Enable Infrastructure is fully committed to effectively managing and improving our environmental performance and minimising the impacts of our business on the environment. Enable Infrastructure will do this by proactively assessing its impacts throughout project lifespans and through the services offered to clients, through reduction and control of waste, reusing and recycling materials,  prevention of pollution, protection of local environmentally sensitive locations, and conserving natural resources.

Companies working in construction have an opportunity to benefit from a sustainable transition. The industry is one of the largest polluters in the UK, and pioneering companies must think environmentally to meet modern demand, working within their own organisations and with their stakeholders and supply chains to create whole-life sustainable construction projects. In a decade of climate action, innovative companies will stand to gain the most as standards and the demands of consumers continue to evolve.

Future targets

Reduce carbon emissions by at least 2.5% each year

To recertify next year Enable Infrastructure must reduce emissions by 2.5%.

Aim to reduce carbon emissions by 5% each year

A 5% year-on-year reduction is the target reduction recommended by Planet Mark.
