Audrey Allen, the first national catering butcher to offer a boutique butchery service and winner of more awards than any other butchery company, has achieved Planet Mark certification.
This is Aubrey Allen’s first year of business carbon footprint reporting and Planet Mark certification. Since certifying to Planet Mark, the company has set a target to reduce emissions by 5% annually.
Aubrey Allen’s total carbon footprint in the year ending October 2021 was 905.5 tCO2e. Aubrey Allen’s total carbon per employee in the year prior to October 2021 was 7.5 tCO2e.
If Aubrey Allen is able to achieve its carbon reduction target, it will save the same amount of carbon that is captured by 55 acres of forest in one year.
“Aubrey Allen has laid the foundations for lasting, impactful change. Planet Mark certification shows dedication to playing your part in creating a better world. Aubrey Allen is showcasing its intent to become industry leaders in sustainability. I look forward to working with their team towards that goal, and pushing the boundaries alongside them.”
“Aubrey Allen are committed to reducing our carbon emissions year on year, we feel it is our responsibility not only as a business but for our industry as a whole to show environmental commitment now and for the future. We look at all aspects of our business and how we can make constant improvements ensuring sustainable change occurs. We already have in place many systems and new projects to ensure we always have environmental wellbeing at the forefront of our work. Improving our sustainability is not just a sole business goal, we aim to be industry leaders to ensure we are setting high standards for all companies to follow.”
Aubrey Allen has embedded sustainable practice into its business beyond Planet Mark certification. The company is protecting an area of endangered rainforest in Peru through a collaboration with Cool Earth, a conservation strategy. Aubrey Allen is also committed to working with its supply chain and the wider industry to help spread awareness of best sustainable practices.
The food industry must make dramatic changes to reach national and global climate goals. From emissions in operations to waste in packaging, the whole supply chain must be analysed with an environmental lens. The food and beverage industry is an area where customers have become increasingly aware of their impact on the planet, so companies that act decisively stand to gain business from good, sustainable practice.
As part of the Planet Mark certification, Aubrey Allen has committed to making a year-on-year reduction.
