Apache Capital, an investment manager specialising in living real estate with a proven track record of creating value through funding, developing and operating its assets under management, has achieved Planet Mark certification.
Achieving the Planet Mark is based on the commitment to continuous improvement in sustainability in its business operations by measuring and reducing its carbon footprint and engaging its stakeholders.
This is Apache Capital’s second year of business carbon footprint reporting and Planet Mark certification. Since certifying to Planet Mark, the company has set a target to reduce emissions by 5% annually.
Apache Capital Partners have also had its Social Value contribution measured by Planet Mark, this amounted to £13,117 and was derived from its employees, contributions to the local community, volunteering, donations, and environmental impacts.
“The company already has some fantastic examples of sustainable placemaking, and are committed to embedding sustainability into all of their work. Planet Mark adds a new level of rigour to their operations, by giving clear measurements and targets to their environmental activity. I am sure Apache Capital Partners will utilise this partnership to continue to thrive as a sustainable business. I am looking forward to seeing their future results.”
Apache’s mission is to create beautiful homes for every stage of someone’s life and communities that are sustainable in every sense of the word. The company recognises the major role that real estate has in meeting today’s ESG-driven agenda and protecting the environment, both at a local and global level. Apache is targeting net zero operational carbon with its single-family housing platform Present Made and embeds social value principles into its practices.
The real estate sector has a number of environmental responsibilities, at both local and global levels. The industry is one of the world’s major polluters, responsible for 20% of emissions in the UK. The industry also has a responsibility during and after the construction process to create healthy, sustainable spaces for people to live, work and thrive. Creating sustainability in the real estate sector is about encompassing emissions into a wider definition of sustainability, and creating a low-impact industry throughout the whole lifecycle of our building stock.
To recertify next year Apache Capital Partner must reduce emissions by 2.5%.
A 5% year-on-year reduction is the target reduction recommended by Planet Mark.
