Certification story

This is A & E’s third year of business carbon footprint reporting and first year of social value measurement. The total carbon footprint in the year ending December 2019 was 126.8 tCO2e an impressive decrease of 42.7% compared to the year ending 2018. The relative carbon footprint was 2.0 tCO2e per employee, a decrease of 42.7% compared to the year ending 2018.

A&E first calculated the emissions of its Cheltenham office operations for the year ending December 2017 and set a target to reduce emissions by 5% annually. This year’s footprint includes emissions from natural gas, purchased electricity, fuel used by the fleet, water, waste, and printing paper for its Cheltenham site. Fleet travel emissions (accounting for 90% of total carbon emissions) decreased by 44.7% compared to the previous year.

Planet Mark
“Businesses up and down the country look to companies like A&E Fire and Security for peace of mind around their operations, so it’s fantastic to know that its clients will be equally assured about their environmental credentials. Their rate of carbon emission reduction is remarkable to see, and I hope they continue to build on this progress in the future – well done to A&E Fire and Security!”

Certification story

Certification to Planet Mark is based on the commitment to continuous improvement in sustainability in its business operations by measuring and reducing its carbon footprint and engaging its stakeholders.

A&E Fire and Security has taken a number of measures to reduce its environmental impact. Its aims and objectives include rewarding, encouraging and incentivising all stakeholders of the company to work towards achieving a net positive effect on the environment and the local community, measuring key environmental and social statistics with the aim of the year on year reduction and the ongoing implementation of its Environmental Management System.

Businesses are increasingly likely to analyse the sustainability of their supply chain when choosing suppliers. As many businesses make the necessary, but nonetheless challenging, targets to reduce their carbon footprint, B2B companies must take note of the changing landscape and examine their own sustainable credentials to ensure they maintain their appeal in a changing corporate landscape.

Future targets

Reduce carbon footprint by 5% annually

As part of the Planet Mark certification, A & E Fire and Security has committed to make a year-on-year reduction.
