Certification story

Abbey Business Interiors, providers of workplace and hospitality furnishing and fit out services to some of the UK’s best-known businesses, has achieved Planet Mark certification.

This is the eleventh year of business carbon footprint reporting and Planet Mark certification. In this crucial Decade of Action, the company wants to ensure that it is a force for good: positively transforming society and the planet by measuring our own impact on the environment.

Steve Malkin
CEO
Planet Mark
“Abbey Business Interiors has done a hugely impressive job in cutting its carbon this year. In such a difficult year for business, success stories such as these are so inspiring. Abbey has been a Planet Mark mainstay, committing to reducing its carbon footprint for nearly a decade. To see such tremendous results this far into the business’ environmental journey is incredible. The team serves as a pioneer, not just in its industry, but for all who want to make positive change.”

Abbey Business Interiors has already achieved significant greenhouse gas emission savings through its year-on-year commitment to carbon footprint reductions. Its achievements are communicated to employees, shareholders and clients, as well as its supply chain. The company is also carrying out an employee engagement programme to both raise awareness and reduce the personal carbon footprints of its employees and their families.

There is a growing trend in the business community to focus on supply chains as a source of sustainable solutions. Businesses operating in the B2B space have a tremendous opportunity to capitalise on this fundamental shift in perspective. A sustainable business is not only one that is good for the planet but is always one that is primed to offer the necessary services to modern businesses.

Future targets

Reduce carbon emissions by at least 2.5% each year

To recertify next year Abbey Business Interiors must reduce emissions by 2.5%.

Aim to reduce carbon emissions by 5% each year

A 5% year-on-year reduction is the target reduction recommended by Planet Mark.
